Aromatherapy, Shiatsu & TCM - by Joanne Hafey
We’re often asked about where we get our inspiration for our creations - so here is a brief explanation:
Aromatherapy - this is the art of using essential oils to provide a simple, effective and pleasurable medium to restore harmony & balance to your life. Aromatherapy may be administered via: relaxation massage, inhalations, immersions, hair & skin applications such as creams, lotions and oils.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - this is an ancient form of medicine based on observations made over thousands of years, and its application usuually involves making a detailed diagnosis, including a discussion of medical history, observation of the patient's complexion, palpation of the pulse & inspection of the tongue. From this a TCM practitioner will then develop an individualised treatment strategy which may utilise a mixture of approaches such as Lifestyle, Dietary &/or Exercise Advice, Shiatsu Therapy, Acupuncture or Herbal Medicine.
Shiatsu Therapy - this is an Oriental form of massage based on TCM and various Japanese massage techniques (anma). The practitioner applies direct pressure through the client’s clothing along energy channels (meridians) and on specific points (acu-points or tsubos) to stimulate and harmonize the flow of Qi (energy).
By combining the wisdom, philosophy and practice of these Eastern practices with the practicalities of Western science we are able to produce a range of skin, hair care and essential oil products that are unique in their capacity to assist with the betterment of mind, body and spirit.
